$53m development green-lit in Victoria

A mixed-use project has been given approval in the greater Melbourne suburb of Oakleigh.

Alke will consist of 95 apartments, a communal residents’ terrace and retail space. It will be developed by property group Pellicano.

“Pellicano focuses on three main drivers for every project – quality design, in-demand location, and quality residential and lifestyle amenity,” Pellicano managing director, Nando Pellicano, said.

“The site for Alke is located on Atherton Road within Oakleigh’s retail precinct, just two minutes from Eaton Mall where the vibrant Greek community spills out into the communal seating area and you can enjoy some of the best Mediterranean food Melbourne has to offer.”

The site is a two-minute walk to local bus access and a five-minute walk to the Oakleigh train station. It has direct access to large roads including Dandenong Road, Warrigal Road and the Monash Freeway.

Urbis has reported a 17 per cent growth in rented apartments in Oakleigh in the last five years. The area has a strong demographic of residents aged 20-39.

The development will consist of three buildings with seven storeys. All apartments come with a car park and either a courtyard or a balcony.

Construction is set to commence in the second half of 2017.
