A Western Australian investor has secured a footprint in the state’s esteemed wine industry, after acquiring the award winning winery Salitage Estate for $2.85 million.

The renowned winery and vineyard is situated in the cool climate region of Pemberton, approximately three and a half hours south of Perth.

Set across an approximate 51 hectare landholding, the property comprises a 22.86 hectare vineyard planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

The property also includes a custom-built winery and cellar door, main residence, manager’s residence, staff accommodation and four luxurious accommodation suites.

CBRE’s Phil Melville and David Kennedy, in conjunction with VNW, negotiated the sale on behalf of receivers Ferrier Hodgson.

Mr Melville said the sales campaign attract strong buyer interest from both local and offshore parties.

“The opportunity to acquire one of the south-west’s most well-known wineries was met with strong market interest, with a number of enquiries from foreign investors looking for an opportunity to reallocate capital into Australia’s agribusiness market,” Mr Melville said.

“There was also a strong level of Australian interest in the asset, with the successful buyer a local investor from WA.”

Mr Melville said the property represented a unique opportunity to acquire an outstanding property with quality infrastructure.

“Salitage Estate is one of the well-known wineries in the south west, having a history for producing some of the most awarded and renowned wines coming out of Western Australia,” Mr Melville said.

The property includes a custom-built, state of the art winery over three levels, a cellar door featuring natural timber throughout which was milled and constructed by local craftsmen.

Included were four self-contained, two bedroom luxury accommodation suites plus a four bedroom manager’s residence that offers elevated views of the rolling hills, natural gardens and the spectacular natural forest.

The Pemberton wine region is recognised worldwide for the production of high quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. An established wine region and tourism destination, Pemberton boasts numerous attractions, including street artscape, art galleries, restaurants and cafes and boutique accommodation.
